With rumors swirling once again about the possibility of a Switch 2, it’s hard not to get excited about what the future may hold for Nintendo’s popular console. The latest information dump from Chinese peripheral manufacturer Mobapad has certainly added fuel to the fire, detailing some interesting new features that could potentially make their way into the new system.

According to Mobapad’s recent blog post, the Switch’s successor is said to be a “conservative evolution” of the current models, more akin to a refined Pro model. One of the most exciting rumors is that the system’s screen will be larger and support 1080p resolution, a significant upgrade from the current max resolution of 720p. Additionally, the new Joy-Con controllers will feature an ‘electromagnetic suction docking structure’ controlled by electric current, and the ‘ZL’ and ‘ZR’ buttons are rumored to be metallic.

Backward Compatibility

One piece of good news for current Switch owners is that the new console is said to be fully backward compatible with both digital and physical Switch games. This means that you’ll be able to continue playing your favorite games on the new system without any issues. The inclusion of a cartridge slot that supports current Switch carts is also a welcome feature for those with a large physical game collection.

In addition to the new features mentioned above, the dock for the Switch 2 is also rumored to see some improvements. The dock will reportedly work in a similar way to the current models but will include a metal damping bracket for improved angle adjustment. It will also feature support for 4K resolution, offering an enhanced gaming experience for those with compatible displays.

While the rumors about the Switch 2 are certainly intriguing, it’s important to take them with a grain of salt until they are officially confirmed by Nintendo. With past rumors often turning out to be false, it’s best to temper your expectations and wait for an official announcement before getting too excited. That being said, the potential for a new and improved Switch system with exciting new features is certainly something to look forward to in the coming months.
