Ubisoft has finally announced the pre-season launch date for XDefiant, its highly anticipated free-to-play first-person shooter. The game, described as a “love letter to fans of classic arena shooters,” has been in development for several years under the guidance of Mark Rubin, a former executive producer from Infinity Ward. After multiple delays, XDefiant seems poised for its biggest test yet, with the pre-season set to begin on 21 May 2024.
XDefiant will debut with five game modes and 14 unique maps for players to explore. With a total of 24 weapons and 44 attachments available, the game offers a wide range of customization options for players. Additionally, XDefiant introduces five main factions inspired by popular Ubisoft franchises such as The Division, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Watch Dogs, and Far Cry. Each faction comes with its own set of abilities, adding a layer of complexity to the gameplay.
While initial beta sessions have received mixed reviews, there is a general consensus that XDefiant’s modern twist on the first-person shooter genre is both compelling and innovative. The game’s blend of classic arena shooter mechanics with contemporary gameplay elements has generated excitement among players.
