Diablo 4 season 5 is bringing players back to the depths of hell with a whole new set of updates and features. The patch notes for the new season’s public test realm (PTR) have been revealed, showcasing a plethora of changes that are sure to shake up the game. While the full details of Diablo 4 season 5 have yet to be fully disclosed, there are some key highlights that players can look forward to.

Questline and Endgame Activity

One of the major updates in Diablo 4 season 5 is the introduction of a new questline that promises to take players on a thrilling journey through hell. This questline follows the events of the main story and will be available in both the seasonal and Eternal realms. Players will venture to Hawezar in World Tier 3 to investigate a mysterious disturbance, setting off a chain of events that will lead them to the Infernal Hordes.

The Infernal Hordes is a new endgame activity that is reminiscent of Nightmare Dungeons, but with a twist – it takes place in Hell itself. Players will face “seemingly endless” and increasingly difficult waves of Hellspawn while collecting Burning Aether to unlock new gear. Access to the Infernal Hordes is granted through the use of a Compass, which comes in eight different tiers of difficulty and World Tier. The higher the tier, the more challenging the waves and the more valuable the rewards. Players can upgrade their Compasses using Abyssal Scrolls as they progress through the activity.

After surviving all waves of the Infernal Hordes, players will come face to face with the Fell Council, a group of former good guys turned bad. Players will battle a randomized selection of three members of the council, each with their own unique abilities. Upon defeating them, players will be rewarded with Burning Aether, which can then be spent on one of the four Spoils of Hell available: Spoils of Equipment, Spoils of Material, Spoils of Gold, and Spoils of Greater Equipment, which guarantees an item with a Greater Affix.

In addition to the questline and endgame activity, Diablo 4 season 5 will also introduce 50 new Legendaries and Uniques, as well as a host of balancing changes for every class. One significant update is the ability to re-summon bosses without having to reset the entire dungeon. After defeating a boss, players will have the option to summon them again at the summoning Altar, allowing for more opportunities to acquire valuable loot.

Diablo 4 season 5 promises to be an exciting and challenging experience for players, with new quests, endgame activities, and rewards to look forward to. The PTR for season 5 will run from June 25 to July 2, during which Blizzard will gather feedback from the community to make any necessary tweaks before the full launch of the season. Brace yourselves for the Infernal Hordes, as hell awaits in Diablo 4 season 5.
