Ubisoft has recently revealed the newest installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, titled Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This exciting new game is set in Feudal Japan during the late Sengoku period and follows the journey of two unique protagonists on a quest to discover their “common destiny.” The game features Naoe, a skilled shinobi assassin seeking revenge and embracing the way of the Shinobi. Along her path, she crosses with Yasuke, a Black samurai warrior and historical figure known for serving daimyo Oda Nobunaga. In the game, Yasuke takes on a mentor/companion role to Naoe, offering a different style of combat and gameplay.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows promises a vast open world experience similar to previous titles like Valhalla, Odyssey, and Origins. However, Ubisoft has introduced new gameplay elements to keep the action fresh and exciting. One of the standout features is the “seasons” system, which will dynamically change the world as the story progresses. For example, lakes may freeze over during winter, while spring brings new crops for cover. Additionally, new lighting mechanics will affect gameplay by altering visibility based on shadows and light sources.
While Ubisoft has not yet revealed detailed gameplay footage, fans can expect more information about Assassin’s Creed Shadows in the coming months. The game is scheduled to launch on November 15, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Mac, and PC. Gamers can look forward to upcoming trailers and story developments leading up to the release date. Ubisoft has also announced their annual Ubisoft Forward showcase set for June 10, 2024, where more exclusive details about the game are expected to be revealed. Stay tuned for further updates on this highly anticipated adventure in Feudal Japan.
