As we bid farewell to summer and start preparing for the cozy days of fall, the gaming industry continues to provide us with a plethora of options to keep us entertained. The month of August was no exception, with a variety of eShop-exclusive releases that captured the attention of both gamers and critics alike.

The Standouts of August

While Emio – The Smiling Man took the spotlight as Nintendo’s headliner for the month, there were several other noteworthy titles that showcased the diversity and creativity present in the eShop selection. From twin-stick shooters to comedic adventures, August had something for every type of gamer.

Readers’ Choice: Satryn DX

July’s Readers’ Choice award went to Satryn DX, a twin-stick shooter known for its neon retro pixel art, chaotic bullet hell action, and addictive gameplay. Priced at a reasonable $6.99, it’s no wonder why this game resonated with so many players and earned the top spot in the poll.

While only three games can claim the top spots in our eShop Selects, there were several other titles that deserve recognition for their quality and entertainment value. The Castlevania Dominus Collection, SteamWorld Heist II, and Thank Goodness You’re Here! are just a few examples of the gems that graced the eShop in August.

As we gear up for the busy month of September, it’s important to acknowledge the hidden gems and shadow drops that may have gone unnoticed in August. From Can of Wormholes to Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid, there are still plenty of games worth exploring and enjoying on the Nintendo Switch eShop.

At the end of each month, the Nintendo Life staff come together to vote on their top three eShop games based on a curated list of titles released in that month. These games must be digital-only releases on the Nintendo Switch eShop and have been reviewed by Nintendo Life. The voting system awards three points for a first choice, two points for a second choice, and one point for a third choice. The cumulative votes determine the final top three list, with the highest-voted game claiming the top prize for that month.

The eShop continues to be a treasure trove of diverse and engaging games, with August showcasing a mix of genres and styles that cater to a wide audience. As we anticipate the upcoming releases and hidden gems in the months to come, it’s clear that the eShop will remain a hub of creativity and innovation in the gaming world.
