Over the years, Gaten Matarazzo has become a household name thanks to his role as Dustin Henderson on the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. As he has grown up in front of the public eye, he has encountered a wide range of fans. However, not all of these encounters have been positive.
During a recent appearance on Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast, Matarazzo shared a particularly creepy fan encounter that left him shocked. A woman in her 40s approached him and confessed that she had a crush on him since he was just 13 years old. This revelation left Matarazzo feeling uncomfortable and disturbed by the encounter.
What made the situation even more cringe-worthy was the fact that the woman made this confession in front of her own daughter. Despite acknowledging the age difference between them, she continued to express her inappropriate feelings towards Matarazzo. The situation was so awkward that even her daughter was taken aback and expressed disbelief at her mother’s behavior.
In addition to the uncomfortable verbal encounter, Matarazzo also revealed that he has been subjected to physical boundary violations by fans. While posing for pictures, he has had fans grope him or grab his butt without his consent. These instances further highlight the challenges that come with being a public figure and dealing with invasive fans.
Despite these unsettling experiences, Matarazzo remains grateful for the opportunities that his role on Stranger Things has provided him. He acknowledges that the show may be the peak of his career and that he is content with that prospect. He values the happiness, security, and future work opportunities that have come from being a part of such a successful series.
Stranger Things Season 5 is set to premiere on Netflix in 2025, marking the end of an era for both the show and Matarazzo’s character. As he prepares to say goodbye to Dustin Henderson, he reflects on the highs and lows of his time on the series and looks forward to what the future holds for his acting career.
