Recently, there have been some major changes announced regarding the premium season pass for Disney Speedstorm. Gameloft, the developer behind the game, has decided to make significant alterations to how players can access the premium content in the upcoming seventh season. This decision has sparked a wave of criticism and disappointment among the game’s community, as many players feel like they are being forced to spend real money in order to fully enjoy the game.

New Payment System

One of the most notable changes is that the premium season pass will no longer be available for purchase using in-game currency. Instead, players will have to spend $9.99 / €9.99 or their regional equivalent to unlock the Premium Pass. Additionally, there will be an option to purchase a ‘Golden Pass Bundle’ for $19.99 / €19.99 which allows players to skip the first 15 tiers of the pass. This shift from using in-game currency to real money has upset many long-time players who have been accustomed to earning their way to the premium content.

In addition to the new payment system, the structure of the seasons in Disney Speedstorm is also undergoing some modifications. Seasons will now be split into two parts, each lasting approximately one month. Each part will contain 4-5 Season Tour Chapters, offering more content for players to engage with. Furthermore, there will be a free Golden Pass track available in each part, providing players with 100 tiers of rewards to earn without having to purchase the premium pass.

Unsurprisingly, the announcement of these changes has not been well-received by the Disney Speedstorm community. Many players have taken to social media platforms like Twitter to express their disappointment and frustration. Some have described the changes as “terrible” and feel let down after saving up their hard-earned in-game currency to purchase future Season Passes. The introduction of a new single-player Tournaments Mode, which limits free attempts and requires payment for unlimited tickets, has only added fuel to the fire.

Future Outlook

It remains to be seen how Gameloft will respond to the backlash from the players. Whether they will reconsider their decision to make the premium pass available only for real money or introduce some form of compromise is uncertain. However, based on the current situation, it seems unlikely that the developer will roll back the changes. Players who want to access all the content and rewards in Disney Speedstorm will need to be prepared to open their wallets and spend a significant amount of money each season.

The controversy surrounding the changes to the premium season pass in Disney Speedstorm highlights the delicate balance between monetization and player satisfaction in mobile games. While developers need to generate revenue to sustain their games, they also need to ensure that players feel valued and appreciated. The future of Disney Speedstorm and how it handles player feedback will ultimately determine its success in the long run.
