Riot Games’ popular tactical shooter Valorant, which has been exclusive to PC since its launch in 2020, is now making its way to consoles. With the announcement of a limited beta for the game on the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S starting on June 14th, Valorant is expanding its reach to a wider audience.

The console beta of Valorant will be available in select countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Europe, and Japan. Riot Games has stated that the beta may roll out to additional global regions shortly after the initial release. However, there is no specific timeline for a full launch on consoles at this time.

According to Riot Games, the console versions of Valorant will offer custom-built gameplay that is tailored for the platform. While crossplay between console and PC will not be available for competitive reasons, the game will support cross-progression. This means that players can seamlessly switch between playing on PC and console while retaining their skins and progression.

Production director Arnar Hrafn Gylfason emphasized the importance of maintaining Valorant’s core competitive gameplay on consoles. He stated, “We were adamant that Valorant’s core, competitive gameplay must feel natural on a controller. And if we couldn’t deliver on that gameplay promise, we had to be prepared to walk away from it. We hope we nailed it, but ultimately, our players will have the final say.”

Mobile Version

In addition to the console release, Riot Games announced a mobile version of Valorant in 2021. However, there has been little information provided about the mobile version since the initial announcement. Players are eagerly awaiting updates on the development and release of Valorant on mobile devices.

The expansion of Valorant to consoles is an exciting development for fans of the game. With the upcoming beta release on the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S, players will have the opportunity to experience Valorant in a new way. The addition of cross-progression ensures that players can seamlessly transition between platforms without losing their progress. As Riot Games continues to evolve Valorant and explore new platforms, the future looks bright for this popular tactical shooter.
