Despite the CEO’s announcement in March that the widespread removal of workers across their many studios was over, the company continues to enforce layoffs and close down studios. The latest victims of these layoffs are the employees at Lost Boys Interactive, a support studio for Diablo IV and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Over half of the employees at the studio lost their jobs, totaling 139 workers.

Even roles such as executive producers and creative directors were not spared in the latest round of job cuts. CEO Shaun Nivens took to LinkedIn to address the layoffs, stating that it was a challenging day for Lost Boys Interactive and emphasizing that the decision to reduce the workforce was not taken lightly. The studio’s official statement attributed the layoffs to “shifting market conditions,” highlighting the volatile nature of the gaming industry. As a co-development partner studio, Lost Boys Interactive is directly influenced by the projects and priorities of their development clients, further exacerbating the impact of market changes on their operations.

The layoffs at Lost Boys Interactive are not an isolated incident but rather part of a recurring pattern within Embracer and the larger gaming industry. Since being acquired by Gearbox and Embracer in 2022, Lost Boys Interactive has already faced one round of layoffs in January of the same year.
