The latest Deadpool and Wolverine movie is causing a stir in the entertainment industry by breaking records and making serious money at the box office. Marvel has gone all out on promotions for this film, which is their only major feature release of the year. This movie marks the 10th time Hugh Jackman has portrayed Wolverine on screen, and it may very well be his last time in the role.

Despite his long tenure as Wolverine, Hugh Jackman is no longer the record holder for the longest career as a Marvel character. The introduction of cameos from other famous Marvel characters, such as Blade, Elektra, and the Fantastic Four, has dethroned him. With Wesley Snipes reprising his role as Blade, he now holds the title for the longest-running career in Marvel movie history.

Having first appeared as Blade in 1998, Wesley Snipes edges out Jackman by just two years in terms of Marvel character longevity. Jackman may have recently surpassed his X-Men co-star Patrick Stewart with a cameo in another Marvel film, but Snipes now officially holds the crown. Ryan Reynolds even took to social media to thank Snipes for being a part of the cast, referring to him as “Marvel Daddy.”

The Longest Gap in Marvel History

In addition to his record-breaking longevity, Snipes also holds the title for the longest gap between character appearances in Marvel films. Almost two decades had passed since Snipes last portrayed Blade in 2004’s “Blade: Trinity.” This resurgence of Snipes in the Marvel universe has certainly made an impact and solidified his place in cinematic history.

While Snipes may be the new king of Marvel, it’s worth noting that Kevin Conroy still holds the record over at DC. Conroy has spent 32 years voicing Bruce Wayne/Batman, with his final performance in the animated movie “Justice League: Crisis On Infinite Earths, Part 3.” The rivalry between DC and Marvel for character longevity continues to be a heated debate among fans and industry insiders.
