Gold Road picks up directly from the events of The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom, where a mysterious entity called Ithelia, a new Daedric Prince, has been unearthed. In the prologue segment, players learn that Ithelia has managed to break free from confinement and is now at large in the world. Upon their arrival at the West Weald, players are greeted by a scene of utter chaos, with flora running rampant across the region. Simultaneously, players encounter a faction of Wood Elves known as the “Recollection” who share a peculiar link to Ithelia. Following her escape, Ithelia roams the West Weald aimlessly, her memories and powers diminished during her time in captivity. As players embark on their quest, they will cross paths with her and ultimately aid in uncovering her past while unravelling a new threat to the established order of the Daedric Princes.
Immersive Environments and Gameplay Enhancements
The West Weald serves as a newly introduced zone in The Elder Scrolls Online, evocative of the landscapes featured in Oblivion. Nestled between Cyrodiil, Gold Coast, Reaper’s March, and Craglorn, the zone boasts three distinct biomes: The Gold Road, characterized by a forest flush with autumnal hues, Valenwood Annexation, a lush jungle rainforest, and Colovian Highlands, a stony, undulating terrain also suffused with autumn themes. During a sneak peek at the game, these biomes were described as visually stunning, with the new autumn motif setting them apart from other regions in the game. The architecture of the area is equally enchanting, with medieval-style castles, villages, and homesteads dotting the landscape as players pursue their objectives.
