Microsoft has officially confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will have a day one release on Xbox Game Pass. This announcement came after a technical error leaked the information a few hours prior to the official statement. Senior editor Tom Warren from Verge first brought attention to this leak on Twitter, revealing that alerts were mistakenly sent out from the Xbox Game Pass app.

The leaked information included a URL that led to a dead page with the title “play-call-of-duty-black-ops-6-day-one-game-pass”. Warren’s post on Twitter mentioned that the Xbox Game Pass app on both iOS and Android was notifying users about the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on Game Pass on day one later this year. This accidental reveal created quite a buzz among gamers eagerly awaiting the release of the popular franchise.

Following the unintended notification, an official post was published on Xbox Wire, confirming the news and assuring fans that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will indeed be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one. While it may not come as a shock to many, considering Microsoft’s history of offering day one releases for first-party games on Game Pass, it is still a significant development for the franchise.

The previously redacted Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct showcase is scheduled to premiere immediately after the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase on June 9th at 10am PT (June 10th at 3am AEST). Both events will be livestreamed on various platforms including Xbox’s Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook channels. Additionally, the livestreams will be accessible in American Sign Language (ASL) with English audio descriptions on the Xbox ASL Twitch channel.

Microsoft’s confirmation of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s day one release on Xbox Game Pass marks an exciting chapter for both the gaming community and the franchise itself. With the accidental leak generating anticipation and the upcoming showcase promising more details and gameplay, fans can look forward to experiencing the highly anticipated game on Game Pass from day one.
