The recent announcement from Remedy Entertainment revealed that Alan Wake 2 has sold 1.3 million units since its release at the beginning of February 2024. This makes it the fastest-selling game in the studio’s history, surpassing popular titles like Control, Max Payne, and Quantum Break. In comparison, Control has sold over 4 million units since its launch in 2019. The success of Alan Wake 2 bodes well for its future sales, as Remedy games tend to have long-lasting popularity.

Remedy Entertainment has made a commitment to continue supporting Alan Wake 2 with the release of two paid downloadable content (DLC) packages. Following the model set by Control, this could lead to a new collected edition of Alan Wake 2 and potentially a physical release in the future. The studio’s leadership is pleased with the game’s success and has expressed optimism about the continued growth of the Alan Wake franchise. Remedy CEO, Tero Virtala, noted that the game has already recovered a significant portion of its development and marketing costs, indicating a strong start for Alan Wake 2.

The successful launch of Alan Wake 2 has also set the stage for future projects at Remedy Entertainment, including Condor, Control 2, and the remakes of Max Payne 1 & 2. Thanks to the smooth release of AW2, development on these projects has accelerated, and they are progressing steadily. These upcoming titles will play a crucial role in expanding the Remedy Connected Universe (RCU), which aims to integrate the universes of Control and Alan Wake.

According to Tero Virtala, Remedy Entertainment has ambitious plans for the RCU, focusing on “growing and expanding” the worlds of Control and Alan Wake. Fans can look forward to more content from both franchises in the years ahead as Remedy continues to shape its unique video game universe. The studio’s commitment to quality and innovation suggests that exciting developments are on the horizon for Remedy Entertainment and its dedicated fan base.
